The last few days have been pretty nice weather-wise. Although it hasn’t been all that warm, it’s nice to have to the sun out. There’s just something about the sun streaming through the windows, creating sun spots on the floor, on the desk, playing light streams on the wall – that just brings out the creative juices. It makes things flow so effortlessly.
But it’s also challenging. Because when it’s nice out, I want to be outside! I want to be working in the garden or sitting on the bench reading or taking a walk or riding bikes with the kids or playing baseball. Anything, just to be outdoors. With the days getting longer, it’s difficult to force myself to sit at my desk. Even if the sun is streaming in.
Does the sun make it harder to concentrate or easier? Does the prospect of spring create ideas flowing or does it stop the flow? Does the thought of planting a garden and tending to it draw out the muse or keep him stuck inside?
It seems to be one of life’s paradoxes. If we let it, it can drown us. We must learn to harness the power of it and use the power to enjoy both the writing and the sun. We must learn to focus intently and then reward ourselves by taking a well-deserved break. For those who master that passion, that duality – if you will, are those who achieve success.
One of the things I’ve learned in a variety of courses and books is to set a goal of so many words per day and just write. When it’s done, you are free to do whatever you desire. Including . . . play in the sun!

Even though I liked the last header, there was just something that didn’t feel was quite right. So, I have created a new one using part of the graphic I used over at ASAdesign. I’m still not sure I really like this one completely, but I think it will do for now.
Tell me what you think!
Oh – and the muse, well, he doesn’t like it at all.
And he thinks I’m just wasting time when we could be writing.
Silly muse! He seems to have forgotten that we have been very busy writing lately and we deserve a break for 20 minutes to just doodle around.

Ah! The snarky little muse, Mr. Chievers, is camped out here on my shoulder, not making a peep! You’d think after having almost a full week off with my being ill, he’d have so much to say, I wouldn’t be able to keep up!
But no. Here he sits. And just sits.
I think he wants to read. We made a trip Sunday afternoon to the library and checked out a bunch of books. Perhaps I will go snag a couple of them off the bookshelf . . .

. . . guess we’ll be back later!

Well, I’m back!
After spending the majority of the last week terribly ill from the combination sinus/tooth infection, I am finally feeling much better and am getting back to work today. I have a lot to catch up on! If you’re expecting a message or a call from me, please know I’ll get to you as soon as I can.
Tomorrow I will begin updating this blog again.
Don’t forget about the Spring Equinox, which in some circles begins today! Or Spring Solstice. Or Ostara. Or whatever you choose to call it. It’s a magnificent day of the re-awakening! The energies are flowing in the Earth as it comes out of it’s Winter slumber. Today is a great day for doing cleaning, both physical and emotional, in all areas of your life – work, home, personal, family. Write your abundance checks, write in your gratitude journal. Open up your heart and soul and let the energies flow to and through you!
It rained much of this morning and early afternoon but it is nice and sunny now. A true cleansing for our Mother Earth as it awakens to Spring! I believe that means we are in for a joyous and abundant season. And I can’t wait to go plant my garden and rework my yard. Lovely!

PS – Hey, go check out my main blog. There’s lots of updates there today and more are in the works for tomorrow.

I’ve joined a writer’s group.
We’re going to meet every other Tuesday, I think it is, and our first meeting is next Tuesday afternoon. I can’t wait! It’s a brand new group with 6 people – all women, if I remember correctly. We’ll all be meeting each other for the first time.
I have no idea what everyone writes or how long they’ve been writing or if they’ve published anything but it’s going to be great to finally connect with some like-minded people and talk about writing. We’ve emailed back and forth a little bit and everyone sounds equally excited.
Will let you know how it goes next week!
And hey – if you’re a part of a writer’s group, post a comment with a little about your experiences. I’d love to hear them!

Sorry for the absence. I’ve had a sinus infection. Apparently, it was caused by an abscess in my tooth.
Yep, in my tooth! I lost part of an old filling in the tooth about a month ago. It didn’t bother me, so I didn’t have it checked. Well, that wasn’t smart! Something got in there and that’s all it took. I spent most of yesterday in the dentist office after being in horrible pain most of the weekend.
Once the antibiotics and everything kick in, I should start feeling better and then I’ll be back to posting. If you need anything in the meantime, please feel free to email me.

I worked hard all week, got some articles written (haven’t posted them yet), wrote a couple chapters in some of the other works in progress. And I was tired.
So, yesterday I took a day off and went to town with my mom. Left my hubby and the kids at home and we went shopping! Got my mom a new printer and picked up my new chair that my husband bought me for our anniversary Thursday. I’m sitting in it right now. And it’s so comfortable! (It’s an Ikea Poang chair, just in case you’re wondering. Got the footstool, too.)
My back is sore, though. Walking and pushing a cart in Costco always does a number on my back. Mom couldn’t push the cart like she usually does when we go as she had her eyes dilated (she went to the eye doctor at Costco before we started our shopping) and her vision was all blurry. Kinda made her sick to her stomach too.
After Costco, we picked up my chair, had some lunch and went to the nutrition store. That was fun! Found all kinds of good things for my sinus infection and for the cholesterol problem the dr. said I have. I hate medications but when I do have to take them, I prefer to take natural/homeopathic remedies.
And yes I know – this post has nothing to do with writing!
Not at all.
And it probably won’t. But, I will write something later about the trials of writing. So come back again soon!

Woo Hoo! (And thank you!) The Write Point is now listed on Authors Blogs!
Yesterday I posted on my main blog that it had been snowing for the better part of the day. It didn’t start sticking until around 4pm, though, and this morning we’ve woken up to a good 6 inches! According to the nice weatherman’s current report, it could snow a few more inches this afternoon.
It looks deceptively warm out there right now but the thermometer says it’s only 30º.
Ok – I don’t know this ended up in italics. Well, actually I *know* how – I pushed the option key and the ( at the same time because I was trying to find the little degree symbol. But now I can’t get it to undo the italics!! How odd.
I’ll write a little more later but for now, it’s time to take the kids outside to play in the snow.
(And no, I didn’t figure out how to undo the italics yet. I had written the above sentence *before* that happened and gone back up to insert another paragraph. And that’s when the italics deal happened.) Oh well.
